The 44 isn’t just a number. It’s a reminder of strength, family, and legacy. Before my mom passed, she told my wife and kids that any time they saw 44, it meant she was watching over them. After she passed, my dad said the same thing — that when we saw 44, we’d know they were both with us. That message lives inside everything we build. Every Barton44 product carries that legacy — built with pride, guided by purpose, and protected by family.

I left the corporate world in 2023 to build a life rooted in hard work and pride. Months later, a 20-foot fall shattered both legs and changed everything.
While recovering, I could’ve given up — but instead, I built something new. Barton Custom Design and The Barton44 Project were born from that struggle.
Now, every piece of gear and every design I create carries one message: Pain can become purpose.

In August 2023, I walked away from the corporate world to chase something real building a business with my hands, under the open sky. I started a landscaping and property management company because I’ve always believed that hard work, sweat, and pride in what you do are what truly define a man.
But on December 21, 2023, everything changed. While cutting down a tree, I was
struck and thrown 20 feet to the ground. My left ankle and heel were shattered and fused, and my right knee was blown apart when my tibia drove through it, leaving me missing nearly four inches of bone.
After multiple surgeries, hardware was installed to stabilize my knee. When the hardware broke a year later and caused a severe staph infection, it had to be removed. Now, I’m in a wheelchair, undergoing daily IV treatments and preparing for another surgery that could rebuild my leg using bone from my pelvis.
Refusing to Quit
It would’ve been easy to give up — but I refused. During recovery, I built an online business where hard work still mattered, even if I couldn’t stand. That business became Barton Custom Design and the foundation for The Barton44 Project — a movement to help others find purpose again.
I proudly partner with veteran-owned and adaptive-owned companies, supporting makers and doers who know what it means to fight through adversity. Because this isn’t just about gear — it’s about resilience, integrity, and living with purpose.
I may be in a wheelchair for now, but I’m not done moving.

The outdoors has always been more than a backdrop to my life — it’s been a teacher, a healer, and a reminder of who I am. After a life-changing injury, I lost the independence that once defined me as an outdoorsman. That moment forced me to look deeper — to find a new sense of purpose and direction.
Barton44 Outdoors was born from that search. It’s not here to sell you things you don’t need — it’s here to represent something you can believe in. Every product, every design, and every partnership reflects what I stand for: strength, honesty, resilience, and pride in the work of American hands.
I don’t want to just sell outdoor gear. I want to build a community around why we go outside — to heal, to challenge ourselves, and to reconnect with something real. This brand is built on integrity, and it’s made for people who live by it.
